Solid Waste Alliance Communities (SWAC)

Special - one day Electronics Collection - June 2009 The Solid Waste Alliance Communities and the Rutland County Solid Waste District hosted a one-time FREE one-day electronics collection for all Rutland County residents on Saturday, June 17, 2009. Many towns also opted to participate in a pre-collection of materials. Materials were collected from the pre-collection towns and were aggregated the week following the collection. The event was sponsored and paid for by Samsung. CRT Recycling located in Portsmouth, NH was hired by Samsung to coordinate the event. SWAC would like to thank Samsung for their generous financial support that allowed this project to take place. It currently costs $.25 per pound to recycle electronics. The materials collected during this event would have cost SWAC and the District appproximately $20,000!!!!!! Thanks again to Samsung. The amount of materials collected was astounding. The following table delineats the amount of materials collected from each municipality.
